This First Week Back has us Feeling Like…

The excitement of seeing friends and a longing to return back to our comfy beds has us coming back to school with mixed feelings this semester like:

  1. not remembering anything from last semester.

2. waking up early for this first time in over a week.

3. walking into the wrong class

4. dealing with snow and ice on the way in.

5. seeing school friends again,

6. but then there’s that one friend…

7. passing out in class.

8. realizing we have to start wearing pants again.

A Moment of Gratitude for all things Taken for Granted

  1. After quite possibly the most heated political campaign ever experienced, we can be thankful that at least we have democracy. How else would people be able to complain about everything over social media?

  2. You have Internet to view our wonderful blog

  3. We may have school this week, but at least it’s a short week. We will get through this together!

  4. Despite its imperfections, we are extremely lucky to live in America.

  5. Cozy sweaters are a thing, and isn’t that just a cure for everything?

  6. Smartphones exist, don’t forget to snapchat your crazy family dinner (pic or it didn’t happen).

  7. We have Netflix, don’t we? Why do they even pause for 15 seconds? We both know I’m not moving for the next 4 days.

  8. A huge storm hasn’t come yet. Quick, someone knock on wood!

  9. All else fails, if you’re reading this, you’re still breathing.

  10. The semester is almost over, which means you’re one step closer to graduating. Oh sweet freedom.

The Mullet Takeover

In case you haven’t caught on, mullets are totally in at Blue Hill. Not that the obvious visual appeal isn’t enough said, but here are 7 more reasons why growing a mullet is a great idea:

  1. Chicks dig themr0gZGw.gif
  2. Professional and fun at the same timer0gZG6.gif
  3. Low maintenance, just look at that gorgeous face.gif (13).gif

18 holidays we bet you didn’t know happened this week

Americans love to celebrate and what better excuse than to create crazy national holidays? Now, don’t get us wrong, some of these days bring up legitimate issues, but others are just plain nonsense. Here is a list of this week’s “holidays” in review:

  1. No Salt Week – October 3-10, 2016

“Welcome to McDonald’s how can I help you?”

2. Mental Illness Awareness Week – October 2-8, 2016

Serious stuff, we grant that this week may proceed as usual.

3. Mystery Series Week – October 2-8, 2016 (First Full Week of October)

I wish I knew what this week was about, such a cliffhanger.

4. National Carry a Tune Week – 2-8, 2016

Let’s gather round the campfire and sing the campfire song! The c.a.m.p f.i.r.e s.o.n.g  song

5. International Post Card Week – October 2-8, 2016 (First Full Week)

Cool, but in America, we send texts.

6. National Midwifery Week – October 2-8, 2016 (Sunday to Saturday During the First Full Week)

How exactly does one celebrate this week?

7. National Chili Week – First Week of October

Sorry I prefer chicken noodle soup

8. National Chimney Safety Week – October 2-8, 2016 (Week before Fire Prevention Week)

Hey, the stores already have Christmas decorations out, it’s time we get the chimney ready for Santa.

9. National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend – October 8-9, 2016

Fair enough, due respect for this one.

10. Customer Service Week – October 3-7, 2016

Finally, a day where the obnoxious customer is always right. Wait…

11. Kid’s Goal Setting Week – October 3-7, 2016

Just this week only, don’t get carried away, children.

12. National Heimlich Heroes Week – October 3-7, 2016 (First Full Monday through Friday Week)

This holiday has me all choked up.

13. Spinning & Weaving Week – October 3-9, 2016 (First Full Week, Monday through Sunday)

Can you wrap your head around this? We can.

14. National Healthcare Food Service Workers Week – October 3-9, 2016

This is oddly specific.

15. Financial Planning Week – October 3-9, 2016 (First Mon-Sun Week in October)

And to celebrate, the juniors and seniors had a financial aid meeting Wednesday night. Hey, nice work Blue Hill, perfect timing!

16. World Space Week – October 4-10

Now is the time to give your significant other the space they truly need

17. World Dairy Expo – October 4-8, 2016 (First Tuesday – Sunday)

I believe it’s customary to celebrate by eating lots of ice cream. I’ll be at Dairy Queen if you need me.

18. National Physician Assistants Week – October 6-12

This may be the future for some of our students after the UNK Health Fair, so let’s all take a moment to celebrate this week.

10 Things you will only see at Blue Hill during Homecoming Week

  1. A silent game of Duck-Duck-Goose to announce royalty.

2. Boys wearing epic blue face paint

3. Someone finding an excuse to dress as a Superhero (even when it isn’t a theme).

4. Tutus all around. We all want to feel beautiful sometimes.

6. Mrs. Meyer with her camera during all passing periods.

7. The overachievers.

8. The underachievers.

9. Students putting more effort into hallway decorations than homework.

10. Someone choosing the wrong dress up day. He rocks it anyway.
