Basketball: TVC Tournament

by Katlyn Brooks

This week, the girls and boys basketball teams are participating in the Twin Valley Conference. Tonight, the boys basketball team will be playing Deshler. Tomorrow, the girls will play Lawrence-Nelson.

Boys basketball is participating in the 3rd round of TVC tonight, playing the #1 seed. “We’re looking forward to the challenge,” head coach, Joe Hubl says. He is proud to say that his team has won the last 7 out of 9 games. The boys have also won the past 2 out of 3 TVC tournaments.

The team has improved vastly since day one, both offensively and defensively. Their biggest improvement; however, is the ability to control and take care of the ball. Hubl stated that there are much less turnovers.

As for the rest of the season and next year’s team, Hubl says he’s very optimistic. “It’s been fun watching our young players since the beginning of the season.”

The girls basketball team plays Lawrence-Nelson at 6pm at the Kenesaw High School.

On Saturday, February 4th the girls and boys will both be competing for 3rd and 4th. If victorious, they will then compete for 1st and 2nd.
